HORIZON
HORIZON
We were hoping to return to our home Udana, to see you again and share laughter and emotions, but the days and months go by and we are still confined to our villages since March. We do not lack work, the hard work of the fields and animals, and the domestic chores, occupy us most of the day. The rest we dedicate to our on-line classes and to study.
We miss you… our ‘sisters’, Udana, the comrades… The situation is getting worse… The lack of mobility to work and the difficulty to get food is leading to malnutrition in many areas of Nepal.
The illusion and the hope of going back to school and to our school routine keep us happy but with a certain fear, fear of seeing how the data on those affected by covid are getting worse day by day; our health system and the population do not have enough resources to face this situation. I look at the horizon of our beautiful mountains and think… what will become of our country? What will become of our people? We, and all those young people who have the possibility to go to school and university are the future, the ones who will have to fight and work to achieve great changes in this society mired in poverty, natural disasters and social injustices.
Thanks to associations or other types of social support groups, more and more young people have access to education, and we feel that we have the obligation to fight and endure so that, when all this is over, we can work and help to raise our beautiful country. I look at the horizon again… and I see with hope that, if we don’t give up, our great day will come.
